The beauty of photography~

My second persuasive speech goes like this..

This picture was taken during my year one at UTAR. Now when I look back at this photo, there are mixed feeling inside me. I felt happy because I’ve been studying with this bunch of course mates for nearly 3 years and during these period of times, I enjoyed being with them. Without the photo, we might not have the chance to reminisces the good old times and share the happiness together. So this is what I’m going to talk about today which is “the beauty of photography”.

There is something in our life that happen only once in a lifetime, for example our first birthday, our wedding, our first born child and etc. Sometimes the feeling of joy and happiness is indescribable as it comes out so naturally from our heart until we can’t put it in words. However, pictures can tell the exact feeling at that special moment. Everything changes as life goes on. The only thing that remains unchanged is memory. These memories stored in our mind will fade away as we getting older, but photos did the wonder by keeping us connected to the memories in the past.

Look at these pictures, they remind me of how cheeky my parents used to be, how awesome my grandparents and the fun hanging out with my cousins. Whenever I feel homesick, looking back at those happy pictures will definitely put a smile or happy tears on my face. In my future, I’m going to share these with my children. Therefore, pictures not only connect the past and future, but also connect people from one generation to another.

Furthermore, photography helps to record the process of growing.

For example, the girl beside me in the photo is one of my good friends. We’ve known each other since secondary school. Some of my friends said that we look alike in the past but now not anymore.

The same thing goes to love. The pictures can tell the growth of a relationship from a friend to a couple and so on. Thus, photos not only show the change in physical appearance, but also show the growth of a friendship or love.

Besides, photos also teach us the meaning of appreciation. There was once when I quarrel with my good friend for quite some times, one day I looked back at those pictures we had captured together then sadly I told myself, “We have been friends for so many years and been through so many happy times together, why does that small matter have to break us apart?” So, I told her how I feel and I do not want to lose a good friend like her. She felt the same way as I did and we become friends again till now. See, this is how a simple photo can make us appreciate the people around us.

Time flies and we might not realize the little things that have change. Due to the fact that we have our own busy life to deal with, we tend to neglect our loved ones. To overcome this, how about putting a photo frame of you and your lover on your desk? Perhaps families wallpaper on your desktop? Or even a profile picture of you and your friends on Facebook? These photos remind us of how fast the time passed and it’s time to take a break and spend more time with them. Besides, photos can connect us to our Mother Nature. The scene that we captured today might not exist in the few years later, so appreciate our nature and preserve it.

Nowadays, snapping photo has become a favorite past time for people especially youngster. During our leisure time, we can play around with our camera and also practice our photography skill. Everything in this world is worth capturing. With a camera in our hand, it allows us get close to the Mother Nature and to see the world as it happens with just a single click of a button. Besides, consistently practicing your photography skill will lead you to become a photographer in the future.

The reason people don’t want to face the camera is because they claim that they do not look good in front of the camera or in other words not photogenic enough. For me, the prettiest photo is the one that brings out the natural side of you. That’s why babies always look adorable even they cry because they do not know how to fake. So, just be yourself and do not have to bother on what people might think about you.

Another reason people don't want to take photo is because they do not have a good camera. well, there is a saying that goes, “the best camera is the one in your hand” and I could not agree anymore. The camera is just a tool, and it is entirely up to the person behind the camera to work his or her magic. You do not have to own a DSLR in order to take great pictures, even a normal compact camera or your phone camera can turn something uninteresting into a piece of art. It’s all about imagination and creativity. There will always be people who will criticize your pictures. Stand firm on your ground and do not feel disappoint easily. If you know what you are doing, there is no reason to be afraid of negative comments right? Instead, use them to learn and improve your photography skills.

In conclusion, photography is a form of expression. Stories, emotions, feelings and ideas can be expressed through pictures. Photography also makes us grow.

When I looked back at this photo and think back at my previous speech, I know I’ve improved my public speaking skills. From a person whose afraid of talking in public, to a speaker who can speak more naturally in front of the audience.

There is a saying that goes, “life is like photography, and we develop from the negative”. Thanks to Mr lionel for all the negative comments which gives me the room of improvement.Thank you!
